PERSONAL PROJECT:
WARRIOR WORRIERIONAL
There’s a male mental health epidemic, a masculinity crisis and 1 in 8 children suffer from depression or anxiety.

To help children reimagine the male stereotype, learn to accept anxieties and have mental health conversations early - myself and
illustrator Sean McCleod released an uplifting mental health storybook.

There is no doubt that this Mental Health Awareness Week feels particularly poignant. The spread of COVID-19 has affected us all and created a sweeping feeling of anxiety across the nation. As parents, we’ve seen it affect our children too.
The number of children with mental health issues continues to rise generally but now more than ever it feels critically important to provide children with the language and confidence to talk about their concerns openly.

Meet Warrior Worrier -a new age storybook hero created by author Katy Sumption and illustrator Sean Mcleod. Warrior Worrier is the strongest soldier in all the land but nobody knows of the secret woes in this worrying Warrior’s world.
From smelling to spelling, from tests to pests, he frets about them all. Giving a fresh perspective on the traditional male role model, this new era of fairytale helps children to understand the importance of talking and encourages them to share their problems.

This book was created on my mat leave and as my son turns one this week I'm proud to give him a new kind of hero.
All profits during this week will be going to children's charity YoungMinds and you can support the book and purchase your
own at warrior worrier.com
